The Basics Of Blackjack

While playing any online game it is very important for you to understand the basics to achieve a favourable result and get maximum enjoyment out of playing at online casinos. In the game blackjack, understanding the basics is really important.

Premise of the Game:

The basic idea is that you have to have a hand nearer to 21 than the dealer without exceeding the value over 21. In this game you don't have to bother about the hands of other players at the table because in this game you are playing directly against the dealer.

Values of the cards:

The cards in blackjack are valued differently. The value of an Ace can count either for 1 or 11. The value for the Ace card needs not to be specified the player. The values of cards from 2 to 9 are as they read. The cards of Jack, Queen and King, all are valued at 10. A hand containing an ace, which as mentioned counts as 1 or 11, is known as 'soft' total without going over total 21. The value of the card always assumed to make up the best valued hand.

The deal of the Cards:

After the placement of all the bets, the dealer deals the cards to every player sitting at the table. The dealer starts with the player sitting to his left so that both the player and dealer will get two cards each. The dealer will then flip one card in his hand and expose its value. The players cards will be dealt face-up in the shoe game only, and the player is not allowed to touch those cards. For a beginner, shoe game is perfect because in this case he doesn't need to worry about handling his cards. Once the cards are distributed to the players, the game further proceeds around the table, starting from the left seat of the dealer. Then the dealer plays individually with each player. Each player must decide whether to 'hit' or 'stand'. If you are dealt a king and a five your total would be 15. At this point you could 'hit' (the dealer turns over another card which is added to your total), or 'stand'. If you were to 'hit' and turn over a 4 your total would now be 19. The most likely decision now would be to 'stand'. The dealer will then play his cards and will 'hit' until he has either beaten or matched your total (in which case dealer wins), or until he busts (scores over 21), in which case the player wins.
